I'd like to take you through the process on a recent work of mine. It begins with a live figure drawing. We had the radio on, tuned to what you might call an old person's channel. The model kept stifling laughter at the adverts. I was in a yellow paper phase at the time and drew her with a brush pen in black ink.

I scanned in the piece, which was about A5, and blew it up to an A3 .svg. I made the ink lines one layer and added extra layers to cover the blankets beneath her.

Then I printed those layers out on acetate and developed them onto fine mesh screens, in preparation of making a screen print.

Then, on some nice yellow paper, I printed the layers over each other... first the lines in an almost-black, then some brown tones for the blankets.

I'm so happy to own your piece. I have a great admiration for hand-drawing. I love creating art with AI, but there's a depth to traditional art that AI just can't replicate
I never realized that so many steps go into creating a piece of art! It's really impressive

Your happiness makes my day! And of course, as in most things, the binaries are false: I had some fun noodling around with generated art. For this piece I repainted a Midjourney output in watercolours to get the best of both worlds. I do sort of miss the wackiness of the outputs from a few years ago.
