i remember having the public/private likes convo with @dwr.eth when warpcast was rolling out the “likes” tab on the profile. he said it was a discovery tool. i said it was a cancellation tool. we all know how every debate with @dwr.eth ends. interesting X will now move them private. thoughts?

Wouldn’t the protocol still have the likes such that anyone can still see them via explorers and other clients? Elon’s focus here is to prevent himself and his republican buddies from outing themselves as porn lovers and neo-nazis. The former I have no issue with but the latter is pertinent information.

For that reason it only works in a black box like Elon’s Twitter. It also makes it impossible to verify if engagement is real or not because we won’t be able to see who actually likes the content.
