Meanwhile countries like Brazil have world class public healthcare, and still force employers to pay for it as a non-cash comp increase, offloading stress from the system and ensuring everyone is covered, not just the full-time workers.
US systems, all of them, not just healthcare, are always designed to ensure capitalists have a way to fuck over anyone they don’t like. It’s not innovative, or justifiable, it’s just stupid.
I’m not saying the only system that could ever work is single payer, nor health savings account, not employer/union benefit, but the US’s system pulls from all the worst baskets and then tries to claim all the innovation is because of it.
Yes technologists will choose the place where they can earn the most money to park their patents, but in a sense of such amoral garbage countries, they would still do the work of innovating in the space. The US doesn’t get to claim the innovation, only the greed that undermines its value. 2 replies
