Current fascination: the “homebrew” video game community that’s making working NES, SNES, Gameboy and more games with actual physical cartridges. The most insane one I’ve seen yet is this one which is basically 8-bit Super Smash Bros on NES, and the cartridge has a wifi chip for global online play 🤯 (Also, most of these include ROM files that you can run on emulators) https://sgadrat.itch.io/super-tilt-bro

That one is the most novel one, but the best one I’ve played yet is probably Alwa’s Awakening (the NES version) which was available for like $2 just the other day. https://eldenpixels.itch.io/alwas-awakening-the-8-bit-edition

Another fun one is this game that licensed Nickelodeon’s Rugrats to make quirky platformer, partially inspired by Super Mario Bros 2. Physical copies are rare but the rom is freely available on Internet Archive https://archive.org/details/rugrats_nes
