One thing I'm slowly coming to terms with is the size of my victim mentality. Specifically as it pertains to growing up lower middle class. I always excuse my shortcomings in life by saying I didn't have the same opportunities as many of the people that surround me. While that may be true there are many people who have had it far worse that have made much more of themselves than I. I'm too old to be playing victim. It's time to start coming to terms with the fact that a lot of where I come up short in life is very much my own fault. I've had many opportunities I never took. I need to start thinking more highly of myself and what I'm capable of.

And that is the only way to escape middle class or being poor or miserable, the moment I identified it was all my fault, most things in my life began to change for the best

This is a good take, but ALSO, itβs not too late to change your life for the better. Thinking youβve lost your chance too soon is the ultimate mental handicap.
