I keep thinking of animals (such as pigeons) who experience the world at a higher FPS, i.e. in slow motion / higher temporal resolution relative to us Humans experience this occasionally e.g. when going through an accident / life-threatening situation Is it possible to chemically induce this state of hyper vigilance?

Modafinil? I don’t think it promotes vigilance in the sense of experiencing world in slow motion, but surely promotes wakefulness.

I'm talking about experimental/non-OTC stuff that has been shown to put people into an extreme state of hypervigilance, like when your brain is flooded with adrenaline from a fight-or-flight response. When you actually feel that everything around you is slowing down, you pick up all the details, you think twice as fast
