Trying to figure out Urbit app monetization - a few thoughts:

1. SaaS-like: pay for updates or premium features
Pro - familiar UX
Con - piracy, marginal benefit to cost

2. Pay once, perpetual license
Pro - high value capture for dev
Con - piracy; unfamiliar UX

On piracy:

Server-based reputation helps mitigate piracy especially in the early days when community has high % of devs + irl connections 

But do users demand privacy of downloads, most likely

Also I think we could see a few conglomerates (super-app + hosting service) that generate most rev and incentivize ecosystem of smaller apps thru rev share.

3. Own address space
Pro - network alignment
Con - liquidity; betting on speculation

Then ofc there are many divergent paths based on the app itself - ex Uqbar will make $ on tx fees and MEV capture
