PolyAccountCasters - why create a channel when you can create an account for your project, allowing account followers to get your announcements? An account used to cost $12/year, now less. A channel costs $25? Doesn't the calculus change when there are 500+ channels, versus 100-ish channels?

benefit of channels is that other folks can contribute to conversations related to it i.e. @deform can only post official announcements, product updates, etc. while anyone can join /deform and leave feedback, showcase forms & campaigns, etc.

devil's advocate: that's what recasts and engagement thread/contests accomplish if you don't have channels, don't want to pay 2x, or don't want to get lost in the sea of channels

totally fair, i prefer the channel ux :) it's more similar to following a twitter list vs depending on the algo to surface news
