Shopify’s founder, unprompted, sharing a protestor being assaulted by police. These fascists are so emboldened it’s crazy.

you don't have to be a fascist to be a founder but apparently it helps

You definitely don’t have to. I think there are a lot of great founders. Ingenuity, leadership, creativity are all great qualities to push the world forward in positive ways and many founders have these in strides. That said, absolute power corrupts absolutely, and the larger one’s wealth grows the more power and influence they gain. It clearly goes to their head as just about every very rich tech founder now thinks they’re brilliant in every field, when they are in fact, very narrow in the scope of their intellect. I hope the cult of the founder and the idolatry of the individual is on the way out.

I really believe human nature is to participate and collaborate not to idolize and submit to individuals. It is easy to seek assurance in others, frankly whether it’s Elon, Trump, or the police/military/state as an institution, most people are just expressing their own daddy issues/anxious attachment when they bootlick. In other words this is a symptom of societal dysfunction; an adaptation not an inherent trait. That’s a roundabout way of saying I remain optimistic about humanity.
