The new channel proposal enables channel legos

- Channel owners have the freedom to mix and match tools and settings

- Enables developers to build businesses at different parts of the channel stack, e.g. economic layer is now open season vs. current centralized channel pass model

How are moderators chosen?

One option is autocracy where the channel creator remains channel mod forever.

The other could be to tie the moderator role to an NFT. Anyone who holds that NFT would be the mod. This would unlock many different options on how to choose/elect a mod (e.g. via DAO onchain voting).
