I’m back. 113km (70 miles) hiking along the Gulf of Riga. 4 days on the road. Sleeping wild. On the way I… - had lunch with 3 polish bikers 🚵‍♂️ - got invited for breakfast by Latvian artists (very talkative) - hit my toe on a rock. Gonna loose the nail - found refuge on a beach sauna from heavy rain. Two Latvian joined me. They wore shirts from a big trail race of my home island. But not talkative. - nearly stepped on a black grass snake - crossed a river carrying my backpack over my head (but didn’t change into my bathing suite) - walked endless kilometres barefoot on white, empty beaches, also trying to be on hard and even surface (hip is still hurting from walking too long on uneven surface) - used up all the power of my power bank (luckily I had my laptop…) - crossed an old guys garden because I couldn’t find my way out of the reef - got blisters on only 50% of my toes - hitched a ride this morning from a young couple to the nearest bus stop (again not talkative)

Did you use regular hiking boots or a barefoot option? Awesome trip by the way. It looks like you enjoyed a lot the silence even though you didn't get enough adult talking.

I had my trail runners with me. The terrain was flat enough that ankle support wasn't necessary. We're also traveling for too long and the hike was just one part of it that I didn't want to take the boots with me. In addition to the trial runners I walked barefoot on the beach. Helped with the blisters.

bookmarked. Maybe for next year trip (thinking about Svalbard 😅). Had to buy a new bag this year and a smaller tarp.
