why don’t people form small groups (3-5) around an interest, create a channel, and cast/reply to each other? 

it could:
1. amplify reach (shared audiences)  
2. create richer, more dynamic discussions (shared effort)
3. build deeper connections  

maybe it feels like extra work or it’s hard to find each other?

Don't group creation cost warps? If I'm correct then I'm going to say that's why. Firstly because why should I pay to create a group on an app I already paid to be a part of and secondly the warps system is very much broken and has been for quite a while. 

My advance apologies for my ignorance if I'm wrong about the cost.

yes, you’re right creating a channel does cost 2500 warps but there’s thousands of channels that can be activated for this purpose today — so why aren’t they?

That's friggin bananas! 

2500 warps to create a channel?!? Today that's $25. That's a granite marble hard pass from me. 

I'd rather find other ways to spend that $25 on actual people than the "machine" that isn't really working for us, we just don't hold it against it.
