friendly reminder that replies do matter thoughtful (not AI-generated) replies are how i built my community and friendships here early FC lore: for a long ling time, there was no quote cast, only recast and recasts were weighted less than replies because conversations are critical to building a social *network*

My reply games are hit and miss. Sometimes I get a bit, more often than not its go fish again. But you can enjoy the highs of engagement when you know the lows of none. Actually have made some nice frens in this space despite my lack of ability to make any real material content 🤣

Sorry for the typo, I meant sometimes I get a hit, as in I get a genuine response or even better, it’s a personal “hit” (very funny or very thought provoking) and it elevates the relationship. But yes, worst case scenario is you get ignored or buried in other responses. If this continues, it’s kind of demoralising. (Won’t divulge in to spam labels as that’s a whole other story) Sometimes I think you do need to research your potential conversation target, because in the end of the day unless they’re highly hospitable with their attention, I find that you can be thought to be an engagement farmer if you don’t say something that resonates with them. People say “just be genuine”, but I think some people you want to get to know, you can’t because even with best intentions you just sometimes have nothing in common to talk about either. But I guess that’s just human nature.
