Everyone opted in, fwiw A consistent piece of feedback from people with large audiences on Twitter but were early on Farcaster (because I knew them): "Farcaster is great, but I forget to post there" So this is an experiment to syndicate their content to Farcaster. May take some time for people to start responding, but certainly the next time they open the app up they will have a full notifications feed and hopefully some thoughtful content. If "casts with no chance of reply" is how you're viewing this, i.e. it's a negative, just don't follow an account or if you're seeing recasts, mute them. The pragmatic view: still a higher chance that an account replies to you on Farcaster than on Twitter. That's just reality.

It's funny because I sent ppl with non-existent Twitter followings to Dan for invites, and he ignored some of them. I told them to give him a break since doing things that don't scale isn't easy, but now we see the red carpet being rolled out like this. Actions speak louder than words :)

why would sending people with non-existent Twitter followings be helpful? genuine question, and when was that? i’ll give 5 of them free accounts if you send me their email / contact info

This was probably late 2022 or early 2023. Since they were close friends, I didn’t think twice about telling them to message Dan for an invite. Later, it occurred to me that having very few Twitter followers might have been why they didn’t get a response. They decided they no longer wanted to join Farcaster, so no worries about the invite now. I’m also happy to cover storage units for new users, so that’s not an issue either. On another note: even if they weren’t close friends, as long as someone is interested in trying out a new social app and you can vouch for them being good people, I don’t think their follower count on any platform should matter. If they’re a dev, creator, or into crypto, that’s a solid reason to invite them, which was the case with all my friends.
