there are 100 days until 2025 and new crypto projects are still using Discord to build and manage their community

Discord is actually great. Fine-grained access control, programmability, and the voice chat experience is far better than any competitors.

never said anything about discord’s feature set or functionality :) what projects do you use discord for? as both leader or user?

the most successful discords manage to engage some community via competitions and tasks like a quest platform. they do have 2-5 active channels: usually one for trading, one for support, one for general chat and potentially some to access for special people like ambassadors or OGs. Absolutely nobody can follow the announcements channels of 1 or multiple channels as that is full of noise. I see the biggest opportunity for Farcaster (channels) to take on this announcement and main chat channel where the core community shares & discusses interesting updates and could share them with more people. We already saw with Degen that 1 community channel can get crowded and requires a split into multiple channels. Sub-channels would be logical to faciliate also the other chats like support or enable an OG (private) channel - if you want to have everything in the Farcaster universe.
