things that made me feel human in the last 72 hours: - the last supper "i'm just happy to be at the table" monologue in the white lotus season finale - watching a father drop off his son with a tri-fold poster board at the elementary school and overhearing him say "good luck, remember: just like we practiced last night" - seeing a little kid stand on his tip toes so she can reach to faucet to wash her hands like a "big kid" - getting a "remember this" text from an old friend with a photo from ages ago that i wouldn't have in fact remembered until it was right in front of my face then immediately calling each other to yap about it for 8 min straight - watching a mom kneel down to be at eye level with her daughter to explain why they had to wait just a litttttle bit longer for their brunch table - asking a friend to clasp my necklace and help zip my dress as we get ready for a dinner party after a midday surf together - finding out that i'm going to be an aunt to a baby boy at the end of the summer (!!)

A lot of these seem to have one thing in common: children. And these little moments that will build their character into whoever they become in two decades. Kids really are one of the best ways to ground into reality amidst the whirlwind of adult life

couldn’t agree more. reminds me of one of my favorite quotes by Aldous Huxley: “The secret of genius is to carry the spirit of the child into old ages, which means never losing your enthusiasm.”
