genuine political question: if you believe in a free democracy, how do you grapple with the fact that the DNC isn’t having debates for any of its presidential nominees and will likely not allow for a presidential debate? i genuinely don’t understand why it seemingly doesn’t bother anyone, regardless of party.

Honestly the only people I've seen defending this are either terminally online redditors, or LLMs pretending to be terminally online redditors. I think it'll be the last straw in the DNC's undoing on this campaign. It's not like they're polling very well to begin with right now.

concerned less about anyone defending it and more about no one speaking out about it publicly because silence normalizes it. even if it’s the way it’s always been done, is it the right way? imo, no, and we should try to change it.

Strong agree there - and yes, the only defending I see is when someone else brings it up as a topic. Again to draw from reddit as an example, if you search the top monthly posts on r/politics, there are zero posts regarding the (lack of) debate. It's frightening tbh
