haven’t seen chatter here about Colossal Bioscience’s $200M fundraise cofounded by genetics godfather George Church, the startup’s solution is “de-extinction yes, the goal is to resurrect extinct species lots of ethical/ecological considerations, but i see value in a platform that includes ancestral DNA

as i said, and ethical/ecological considerations aside, there’s value in reconstructing ancestral DNA (eg could inform epi/genetic therapies). typically platforms provide many benefits outside of the stated goal, and i imagine that’s what’s at play here. can’t calculate the benefits against the known risks yet.
