two things can be true: 1. this is good revenue generation for these pods that wouldn’t have been generated on traditional platforms 2. as a podcaster, “minutes listened” is infinitely more valuable to me compared to “mints,” which imo is the most unreliable onchain metric for quality of multimedia content

agreed 100%, and that’s because mints are purely signaling and patronage today people mint to support their friends and brands they want to be associated with that behavior doesn’t scale

agreed, so then why does crypto keep using it as a signal for "success"? like as a writer, don't you want people to actually *read* your writing? as a podcaster, don't you want people to actually *listen* to your podcast? you want your content to be something people talk about, not just transact

most people don’t care that their content is read or listened to, just that it is generating the social and financial capital that they desire

imo this is the problem we wonder why crypto content is such shit it is bc extrinsic motivation ALWAYS produces WORSE content show me a creator, a founder, a builder that is intrinsically motivated and i'll show you the highest quality crypto output (many in /clubted; you one of them)
