photo from last night with @dylanabruscato sharing /crypto-the-game with a tech-forward digital media community. @evangreenberg was there, too! the community creates immersive entertainment, AI-generated media, XR experiences, etc. a few of my takeaways: 1. @dylanabruscato is a gift to our space. high integrity, earnest, fun, with a deep understanding of what blockchain and the new internet can unlock. incredible evangelist and ambassador for what we do. 2. everyone loves the CTG concept. first question is: do i need to know crypto? 3. there was a lot of "why crypto?" and "crypto is a scam" upfront (kudos for the honesty!). when we dug in deeper, the major issues are: a) not used anywhere except speculation, b) expensive and slow. we showed them USDC p2p payment on warpcast (cc @worqas) and they were like what?! really?! special moment, instantly became more open to crypto. 4. two people said they were already reading @cdixon.eth's Read Write Own. pleasantly surprised! gonna get coffee with both soon.

moral of the story (at least for me): spending all day on crypto twitter or talking to other people in crypto isn't going to push our industry forward. going outside of crypto, being kind and friendly, and showing them the power of crypto through great apps just might.

How do you combat the narrative? I refuse to onboard people because many approach from a place of "crypto is a scam" and use the plethora of articles of things going wrong here as evidence to not change their minds. I've found in my experience that people I've tried discussing what I do here with are quicker to change their opinion of me than of crypto. I often value my relationship with the few people I know irl too much to risk them isolating me because they think I'm associated with something immoral. I don't get out much, and it's hard for me to make new friends.

yes! absolutely. reminds me of an interaction I had with a normie yesterday after she saw me on farcaster. ended up explaining crypto and blockchain and she was really interested. (or re-interested. lol. she already thought crypto was just rug-pulling.) really brings home the point, ted. we have to get out there and talk to people. the more good interactions and positive discussions we have around crypto WILL change the narrative.
