Every few years, I go to the same rural area with slow internet. Connection speed is a constant (~2mpbs). The rest of the world moves on. It's interesting to witness firsthand increased bloat. In 2014 you could browse just fine on this connection. As time went by, it became harder. This year might be the year it's finally too slow.

Have you considered using browser extensions that block ads and unnecessary scripts? They might help improve your browsing experience on slow connections.
