I often think about how streamers and studios have their unit economics for attention wrong. The Super Mario Bros. Movie cost $100M to make (production). $150M was spent on prints and ads (doesn't include audience testing or even publicity & promos, among other things) Barbie took $145M to make. P&A was $175M. Insane, because you the movie theater goer or the streamer at home are paying for that budget with more than 50% of your ticket cost or streaming subscription. Threads (like this r/technology) prove that people know the accounting is off by large factors TLDR: people are starting to notice the accounting error is no longer subsidized by |The Growth Phase| (& ZIRP), but now ruled by hardline accountants, competing in battle to win unit economics in |The Consolidation Phase|. https://www.reddit.com/r/technology/comments/1hsmkei/cutting_the_cord_again_americans_are_spending/

All of this kills the art of filmmaking. I'd rather split that P&A budget with all the creators bringing the film to life. And the other half with community that supports it along the way. Studios don’t value your thoughts, taste or even input But they should Because we do And we think you should be apart of one
