I swear that at age 42, every upper body workout I do feels like death the next few days. Sit ups, push ups, bicep curls— they’re all “Does this pain mean I broke myself and I’m going to die?” in the aftermath.

Pro tip maybe? I’m the same age and I exclusively do training using a tension band. Getting results with next to no soreness.

That’s a great idea. I may be more of a tension band and sustained-hold type of person than a free-weight and reps type of person anyway— and it is a gentler motion on the joints.

Yeah it’s fantastic for isolating problem spots. The thing I’ve keyed in on is “strengthen to lengthen” which is about building muscle fibres so that you have more material to stretch. Find a stretch the attacks a problem area, then find a position that adds resistance *into* the stretch with the band. Release as slow as you can out of the stretch — as the band will want to pull you out of it. Been finally correcting problems I’ve had for decades. Physio set me up with a few and then I lost benefits so I’ve been DIY’ing and getting great outcomes.
