Being sensory sensitive and autistic, my genuine surprise at many mass-shootings is that a person fired an AR-15 with no hearing protection. Even a 9MM is too loud for unprotected ears without extreme discomfort, unless silenced and firing subsonic grains.

It may be autistic overshare, but I can understand malice, indifference and a drive for violence more readily than being willing to suffer such loudness for the outcome. 

Obviously the behavior is depraved and wrong— my brain is just 101% sensory-aghast first and 100% morally aghast second.

I believe that they're clouded by emotions thus such hearing, tension, and reaction from them would be impossible. 

Adrenaline is one hella way of boost made by homo sapiens and sometimes it's scary.
