Being sensory sensitive and autistic, my genuine surprise at many mass-shootings is that a person fired an AR-15 with no hearing protection. Even a 9MM is too loud for unprotected ears without extreme discomfort, unless silenced and firing subsonic grains.

It may be autistic overshare, but I can understand malice, indifference and a drive for violence more readily than being willing to suffer such loudness for the outcome. Obviously the behavior is depraved and wrongβ my brain is just 101% sensory-aghast first and 100% morally aghast second.
