How do channels increase distribution for a cast?

If you cast in a channel, you have the chance—based on how much engagement the cast gets—to have the cast get recommended to people who don't follow you.

Not feeling a channel? Just cast! It goes to your followers.

Casting in a channel, honestly just gets me the response I’m looking for. For example, technical questions in /dev /evm channels. 

So I guess anecdotally higher engagement.
