When I planted my garden, I tilled in some compost, then spread wood chips. Never tilled again. They've slowly broken down, enriching the soil. The lot my garden sits in was dry dirt... now it's LIVING SOIL! What do you use as a ground cover? /garden more

Most tree trimming services have to pay in order to dump their wood chips, they may be willing to drop them off at your place. Have done this before.
