I don’t get how mobbin works?

Does it pay the curated apps? Or is it legal to screenshot different apps and sell the access to those screenshots? 

Someone enlighten me

yes you can just take screenshots and gate access to the full library. no one making those apps gets paid. 

i had a product exactly like this in 2017 with @chmielwork but taking screenshots for all these apps ended up being a fulltime job for at least 4 people so we abandoned it

oh, strange this doesn’t feel intuitive to me for some reason

i believe another hard task is keeping those screens up to date / tracking new versions?

downloading apps, signing up, going through all the flows, taking screenshots, categorizing and tagging them, taking new ones when the app is updated (often requires a whole new phone number and account)

it really is a lot of fucking work. that’s why pttrns.com was sold — they couldn’t keep up. mobbin’s edge was hiring students from SEA for cheap and taking advantage of pttrns fading out.
