You tend not to question many things that might've been wrong or suboptimal (most parents are just trying their best) until much later in life, often thanks to having a partner

A good partner will hold a non judgmental mirror up to you and tell you what is best about your upbringing, what you need to be updated on and what you need to drop immediately lol
