Made another change to the travel setup. Swapped out a 0.48L thermos for a "portable kettle" and a 8 fl oz wide mouth hydroflask. I realized that I really like to be able to have a hot beverage everyday, the routine grounds me in the midst of travel. But I don't necessarily want caffeine/sugar, and it takes a lot of time and money to find that every day while traveling. And don't get me started on the kettles in hotels. Even in fancy hotels, the Nespresso machines/kettles are often not properly cleaned. As you can see, the 450mL kettle is not much bigger than the 480mL Zojirushi thermos, but it weighs almost twice as much. I got the wide mouth thermos because it's much easier to clean, which is helpful since I'll be having things other than water in it. In a pinch, I can blanch some kale or other greens with this setup, which can be nice because I often find when I'm traveling, I don't get enough greens. This change adds considerable bulk and weight to my setup, but hopefully it will be worth it for me.

In the past I'd gotten a portable electric immersion water heater for this purpose, but it was pretty sketch, and broke fairly quickly. I'm thankful that now Chinese manufacturers have delivered what I've been waiting for for a long time at low cost ($30).
