Do people actually consciously make a judgement about quality of service when they tip??! I always just mindlessly add 15-20%. So the whole "tipping incentivizes quality of service" argument has always seemed unrealistic to me. https://x.com/tracewoodgrains/status/1826601506885320775

Yes to adjusting the tip to reflect good or bad service. But I wish the tip would disappear all together. Just make the price the price. Also related, when buying takeout tipping is not expected, at least not in Canada, as the service is minimal. Yet, payment machines manipulate us to think tipping is expected. Businesses should just pay a proper wage.
