FWIW I think Ethereum has already “won” in programmable blockchains. Its biggest competitors will be decentralized networks that aren’t built on blockchain.

What form would that take?

Probably a network which is agent-centric rather than data-centric like blockchains typically are. Having data ontology of network participants rather than  having ledger ontology of transactions. Put the identity issue first, in other words. Just my hunch as a non-techy person.
