Why are so many VCs stuck in the mindset that “innovation can’t happen outside of SF/NYC/London”? I’ve literally had a pitch meeting where a VC asked where I was calling from and after answering Kansas, asked with a pitying face, “why?”

Dorothy and the wicked witch of the west in a conference call. Prob cuz the talent that's young and hungry migrate to those place and so odds of success are higher there. If you can't afford to move there you prob don't have enough traction. So it acts as a natural filter for earliest stage where risk is highest. idk

I moved _away_ from the coast and won’t ever move back by choice. Controversial companies around security shouldn’t be on the coast — the 100 mile constitution-free zone is the biggest risk of them all.

You explaining that is a huge plus I imagine for VCs and moving allows for that (besides your aforementioned reasoning). If they still don’t get it then that acts as a filter for you and makes it easier to get to the VCs that matter/think differently. Like Thanos said “Perfectly balanced as all things should be.”
