We often think of having an effective economic model for public goods as something fantastical. In reality, the leap from our current economic model to one that also works for public goods would not be greater than the leap from an economic model that only works for B2C production to one that also works for B2B. Just think what the world would be like without a B2B (business-to-business) model – if you could only sell products directly to customers (B2C). You'd have a world with no supply chains, no manufacturing equipment or any large scale development. You'd still have small tools and primitive agriculture, but not too much beyond that. What you need for B2B to work then is some level of alignment within the business and a structure that can make decisions (and payments) in the interest of the business. That's also EXACTLY what you need for an effective B2N (business-to-network) economic model for public goods – but instead of the level of a business it would work at the level of the Network Economy

. The transition to an economic model for public goods is not as daunting as it may seem, similar to the shift from B2C to B2B. Structure and alignment are key
