When you feel like you’re on a roll, and then you just get derailed by something (or even nothing, like wandering attention), How do you get back in the zone? I know we all struggle with this. I’m always looking for new tips to try even if it only works once, because novelty.

This is vague but right now I’m feeling like a failure over a few things in my life that I have pretty much no control over (something that is difficult to admit). I think those things are preventing me from being motivated in other aspects of my life that need some TLC.

I hear this. My adhd can make me feel lazy and out of control. Do you have a mindfulness practice? I was sooooo begrudgingly resistant to them but eventually I realized that forcing myself to the radical present can get my out of my head. I’ve also read that a big way to jumpstart dopamine is to wash your face with cold water and brush your teeth right when you get up, and zero screen time for the first hour after you wake up Also, dancing or going on a walk! Fresh air! Today is an adderall day for me, too. It gives me the boost I need to do things thoughtfully.

This is actually really helpful. I’m going to try this tomorrow. Ty! Do you have any other mindfulness tips? I used to meditate but I can’t bring myself to get back into that habit. I recently started yoga, too. almost every day is a Ritalin day for me, unfortunately.

Honestly box breathing is what I do when I feel out of control, bc that typically means I’ve been holding my breath. I also hug myself / tap my shoulders / rub my chest. Alll things I learned in therapy, ironically for GAD (was diagnosed with this years ago, and only recently with adhd and it’s been a big connection in terms of my prognosis) My “habits”: running, walking, soul cycle, marijuana, breathing with my cats (somatic reset), drinking (totally can be a stim, same with weed. This is when I ask myself what kind of habit it is and why I have the craving), Pilates, Rumble, coffee, direct sunshine, lying on the floor, social media, reading, watching tv, prospecting (for work), etc etc etc lol
