Duolingo can do calendar days because it's not decentralized and sells you pauses if you travel / change timezones. 24-hour windows is simple and any other app can use cast data to implement. Still once a day.

revealed preference users don't care about decentralization and will unintentionally break streaks, be angry and cast less as a result of not holding a streak

The revealed preference are people are figuring it out. If we did streaks in a non-decentralized friendly way, people would accuse me of making it a feature to create retention for Warpcast. :)

what changes to the protocol were made for streaks? seems like a centralized feature anyway unless some type of additional data points are added to the network itself, which aren’t necessary anyway because all needed information is there already for any client to implement streaks how they prefer.

none - I think the point is that warpcast has timezone data and any new client wouldn‘t have historical timezone data to recreate the same streak to warpcast.

hmm. forgot that profile location isn’t on the hubs. perhaps adding that would be a universal option with GMT as the default
