It's definitely incorrect to say it's simpler than the SpaceX towers... That's part of the problem, it's extremely complex because Congress wants companies in all 50 states to make parts for SLS so they have all these contractors and obviously they have problems with systems integration. But yeah at this point it's just ridiculous, SLS only made sense in a pre-Starship world. I'm sure they'll want to just cut the program but what Congress will do is another question.
