as much as the rise of $HIGHER in a relatively intellectual community like farcaster is fascinating to me, i can’t help but stick with the more rational $DEGEN $QUIL infrastructure play. seems to have way more predictable upside over the long term

Sounds like you are saying “utility” is more valuable than a meme?

in the long timeline, yes. in all timelines utility is simply more predictable because it has fundamentals to consider, so overall risk is lowered

This isn’t how I see it. I agree that utility is more predictable but everything w utility is also a meme. So now you’ve got two factors to consider which I find harder to read

interesting. i'd like to know how you read pure memes because they are far more unpredictable in my experience. anyone can create memes / memecoins, so not only are there far more of them, but initial virality based on source and effort is usually not predictable. however, because utilities are more durable and are expected to provide some type of value, they are not only harder to create (and therefore less prevalent) but they are also more measurable based on origin (the team), target audience, value provided, and network (funding, industry growth rate, etc)

Seems like you are trying to right curve it. It’s just left curve vibe assessment

i mean that's what memes are, but the odds are not in your favor investing that way in the long term unless you consistently have an inside information advantage i know it's not cool to bring logic to the vibes session and the mid-meme gets some good reactions, but long term survival demands it (ask warren buffett). that said i understand playing the vibes here and there because it can be fun, especially with friends

I think maybe it’s just how my brain works but I think my sense of vibes is always based on actual observations. I guess I am saying that I don’t want to only rely on the observations I am consciously aware of

if that works for you, that's awesome. for me, the alchemy of memecoins is usually too unpredictable - my brain requires a more scientific approach where things are measurable and repeatable, even if some things that are not yet measurable are ignored
