What new channels should we add next?

I think some people feel a bit lost in the new Farcaster because rather than existing communities / interest groups creating their own channels (and therefore being aware of them / curating them from the start), top-down channel creation creates an artificial environment for discovery and social organization.

Could the opposite also be true? :) Permissionless creates a discovery problem, competing channels hurt liquidity in both, name squatting, etc.

If a community collectively (or at least its leaders) decide to create a channel for topic org., that community is likely to better understand, utilize that segment, and tell others about it rather than have content regularly "disappear" for users. It is effectively regularly & dramatically changing the feed algo.

Feels like this is getting abstract / hypothetical. Happy to consider adding a channel you'd like to see! We'll get to permissionless eventually (like we did with the protocol), but for now the approach to channels seems to be working well enough and allows for much faster iteration.

No, please I don't want a channel lol. I can't keep up. I want to keep up with those I follow, but I really don't want to browse new channels every day. Farcaster feels very different than it did 3 months ago, and I don't think it was public signup that did that.

Follow channels that interest you and all of the casts from people you follow will appear in your home feed. No extra work beyond opt-ing in.
