they haven’t done a lot of work on the payload area of starship, but they have designed the payload door specifically for starlink deployment and they have done a few tests on opening that in recent launches. i suspect now that super heavy is in the refinement stage, starship will get more focus going forward for full orbital control and payload mechanisms. with starship’s splashdown being so accurate, it seems like the heat shield and fin designs (which were getting all the focus) are also now in the refinement stage
