call me old-fashioned, but I think a 3-day downtime should be a reason to not be able to raise from top-tier VCs... not the other way around 🤷

That makes sense. So it should still have a financial aspect to it. Crypto is just and advanced user mode

That makes sense. But is it really possible to make that balance? An app that's appealing both to degens and general consumers alike? What would that look like?

I don't seem to find a common understanding, and I'm often confused about which definition people tend to lean more towards.

Curious to have your thoughts on this: is consumer crypto... 1) Consumer-like applications (e-commerce, social media, SaaS, etc) with onchain implementations, targeted at crypto native audiences. 2) Or applications for mass consumption, with a few crypto enabled functionality, sometimes even under the hood?

Provocative thought: why even saying their NFTs? They should be NFTs, but no need to explicitly calling them. Majority of fans might not even care. Only some do. Bandcamp already have a small payment mechanism ($1 or give what you want), and a feeling of collectability without ever using the word NFTs. And that attracts a lot of independent fans and artists. But Bandcamp is an old generation tool, with very low engagement mechanisms, no community building, and zero gamification. The opportunity is there I think.

I'm giving it a try after EthCC, but after a few days not sure what to feel to be honest. I really like some of its concepts, i think channels are a great thing to start proper discussions and conversations... But so far i haven't really got any kind of real engagement back, and I've been trying to be actively engaging in discussions and convos. It kinda feels like interactions aren't really deep. Just engagement or reward farming... It feels a bit weird...

Hey @cryptso.eth, just sharing my honest opinion, but I still think this is unnecessarily complicated. A new user should already have a feeling of completion after the screen I share below. Even if there are additional steps to get the collectible onchain, after that first screen I believe this is the feeling you should convey to the user: "Congratulations, you just got the official NFT and now have 250 points. Now, let me teach you how to see the collectible and use those points." And then you take them through all the processes to onboard them into a wallet. Also, "Collect" or "Claim" is better than "Mint" IMO

This is actually a pretty good framing for product development if you want to build a consumer app with crypto/onchain footprint. 💡

there's a reason why MS puts so much effort on pushing teams and communication platforms onto enterprise, with cheaper price models. because they basically upsell everything on top of that, creating integrated connections for higher value activities where then they sell their tools

I think that a little less focus on "crypto" & "on-chain" would make farcaster the top choice for any kind of founder. The support and excitement around builders is undeniable, but it feels that if you're not actively building onchain you are implicitly being left out.
