LOLITA - NABOKOV, It's my second book I've ever read in my life. If you enjoy Beautiful language, where each sentence is crafted with great thought and precision, Nabokov is a master of words. Lolita was a revelation for me; I understood that words truly had depth and that they could be pushed so far.

No, the first time in French, but during my literary studies, I reread it in English, it was really a whole different pleasure. After that, I know he was very demanding about translations and didn't hesitate to correct them himself

Yes, he has a very unusual attitude towards translations. That's one of the reason why he translated Lolita into Russian (his native language) by himself. And this translation was slightly strange, but filigree at the moments. However, after this translation, he became disappointed with the Russian language :(

Yes, he had a conflicted relationship with many things and was never satisfied. Indeed, he gradually abandoned his mother tongue for English 🥲 He sought mastery and control over everything in his life, so it doesn't surprise me that he did the same with his translations.
