My favorite place in the world is Italy, and I’ve never experienced the preternatural magic and joy I did when I went there the first time years ago. Also, some of my best poetry has been inspired by my time in southern Italy.

Agreed. The older and more independent I get, the less physically, emotionally, or intellectually attracted I ever am to men I wouldn’t deem worthy of leading me. Which is to say, I have not been entirely attracted to a man in 4 years. And that’s okay.

Communication itself is a form of manipulation. When a human opens his mouth to say something, his foundational purpose is to increase his worthiness in the eyes of the other. Whether you want to persuade someone to think what you think, make a joke, express your feelings, it’s all the same on a subconscious level.

I feel very similarly these days. My ability to get started on writing something I was even casually inspired by in college is something I miss so much post-graduation. It was one of my favorite things about being in school. Too much fluidity in my schedule now crushes my drive and determination.

One of the primarily aspects of my lifestyle that intersects with stoicism is the practice of cultivating silence in the soul. I find benefit in focused prayer, solo art sessions, and constant reevaluation of my current distractions and temptations, whether it’s social media, excessive studying, or even speaking.
