I have learnt to ask myself this question - are you writing/talking to communicate, or are you writing/talking to manipulate?

I only want to communicate because manipulation destroys trust.

Communication itself is a form of manipulation. When a human opens his mouth to say something, his foundational purpose is to increase his worthiness in the eyes of the other. Whether you want to persuade someone to think what you think, make a joke, express your feelings, it’s all the same on a subconscious level.
