Modafinil is a class above caffeine. → Less addictive → More powerful and longer-lasting → Little to no impact on falling asleep (if taken early in the morning) → Alleviates sleep deprivation I don't understand why it requires a prescription while caffeine is available OTC.

More complex and less understood. Caffeine has been coexisting in human development for likely 2000+ years. We don’t know the long term potential effects of Modafinil because it’s so new.

A conservative take that cannot be refuted, so agree to disagree.

Not really. There are plenty of drugs that pass through the FDA in the US that end up going and mess people up later on. Claiming that Starbucks should offer Modafinil spiked lattes is nuts. You’re an above average informed individual. Therefore, you are willing to take higher risk. The cost is the inconvenience.

Strawman. I did not claim that Starbucks should put modafinil in their coffees. I only said that modafinil should be OTC and it's a better nootropic than coffee overall. I am a proponent of episodic use of modafinil. https://x.com/paulrberg/status/1728702191496556742?s=46
