I cannot recommend enough (if it's available) that you find a local farm CSA that offers eggs as an option. The one I purchase through has $9 dozens and they are all fresh and local.

Until last year, I had backyard chickens! CSAs are a great option too. I used to get mine from one and it was only $6/dozen. I wonder if they’ve increased their prices…
