Depends! I think it's a bit of a niche use case as some people do this to help backup their dotfiles in a git repository, and other do it just to help share on github how their system is setup (for the ricing nerds). Personally I'm about to switch to a new computer and wanted to take this approach for migrating settings, so I might only actually use it once in a few years ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
