I didn’t know it at the time but apparently someone shared my blog post about Zed on HackerNews. Just reading through the comments today and came across this beauty; glad they’re happy writing 10 LOC a day because I know I wouldn’t be lol

When I first used zed I imagined a world where every piece of software was that performant. I still don’t understand the magic. Is it partially Rust and partially great engineering?

I would say both! A few of the primary authors of Zed also built Atom/Electron. They even built their own UI framework in rust just to build zed: https://www.gpui.rs/ It’s very rare for such a talented group of developers to build an editor from scratch. I love it.
