Gavin Andersen gave 5 BTC (from his personal holdings) to users for solving a simple CAPTCHA, with the intent to spread the word about Bitcoin and teach people the basic skills necessary to get into Bitcoin, such as setting up a wallet, managing private keys, and sending their first transactions. In 2010 Gavin gave away a grand total of 19,700 bitcoin with the help of his faucet. At the time 5 bitcoin were worth about $1 . Today, his giveaway would be valued at an amazing $1,674,500,000 ! 🤩
