came to the realization yesterday that i cannot show up 100% to any part of myself except being a parent for the foreseeable future. not being a wife, not being a friend, not being a writer, none of it.

i'm not mad about it. it's just something i'm learning to accept.

Exactly. Monday I had such high expectations of myself (and my baby to some extent), and nothing happened the way I wanted it to.

I thought I could set aside parenting and focus entirely on writing, but I can't. Some part of me will always be focused on parenting. It's just never been that way with any other part of me.

It's a learning curve to say the least, and definitely not something I could've prepared for

When I made this realization it made so many things easier.  Not because they were easier, but because I stopped being so hard on myself.
